Lower Molar Distalization Using Clear Aligners: Bodily Movement or Uprighting? A Preliminary Study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: Lower molar distalization is considered to be one of the most difficult movements obtain with clear aligners. The aim this study was evaluate possibility distalize lower molars using aligners in adults without miniscrews. Material and methods: rx cephalograms 16 patients (8 males, 8 females; mean age 25.6 years), who underwent distalization, were analyzed. Cephalograms taken before beginning treatment (T0) after end (T1). Dental skeletal changes between T0 T1 evaluated. level significance set at p < 0.05. Results: At T1, second moved distally 2.47 mm, but there a significant tipping (p = 0.027); same result found first molar, distal movement 1.16 mm 0.003). No detected on sagittal vertical variables. Conclusion: Clear aligner therapy can provide more than bodily when programmed. This could sufficient correct initial malocclusion gain class I relationship.

Molar Uprighting Using Mini-Screws after Distalization by the Pendulum Appliance: A Case Report
A 16-year-old Class II female patient was treated without tooth extraction. The upper first molars were distalized by the Pendulum appliance. After six months, the molars tipped significantly to the distal. To correct this side effect, we decided to upright the molars using skeletal anchorage. On each side, a mini-screw was inserted between first and second premolars in the buccal cortical plat...

BACKGROUND The aim of the present study was to test the hypothesis that bodily maxillary molar distalization was not achievable in aligner orthodontics. METHODS Forty lateral cephalograms obtained from 20 non-growing subjects (9 male, 11 female; average age 29.73 years) (group S), who underwent bilateral distalization of their maxillary dentition with Invisalign aligners (Align Technology, In...
متن کاملOrthodontic Tooth Movement with Clear Aligners
Clear aligners provide a convenient model to measure orthodontic tooth movement (OTM). We examined the role of in vivo aligner material fatigue and subject-specific factors in tooth movement. Fifteen subjects seeking orthodontic treatment at the University of Florida were enrolled. Results were compared with data previously collected from 37 subjects enrolled in a similar protocol. Subjects wer...
متن کاملA new approach in maxillary molar distalization: intraoral bodily molar distalizer.
The objectives of our study were to achieve bodily molar distalization, avoid distal tipping of molars, eliminate the need for patient cooperation (no headgear, no elastics, and no esthetic and social concern), and finally to minimize the treatment period and maximize the treatment efficiency. The study was carried out on 5 males and 10 females, a total of 15 patients. Mean age for the study gr...
متن کاملPreprosthetic molar uprighting using skeletal anchorage.
after extraction or loss of a first molar, the second molar may tip mesially into the edentulous space. Not only will the first-molar space contract mesiodistally, but eccentric occlusal loading will reduce the biomechanical loading capacity of the second molar. Such a situation requires preprosthetic up righting of the second molar using appropriate mechanics. Simply tipping the molar distally...
